Custom Commercial Ceilings with Integrated LED Lighting Washington DC
AWAKE Fabric Ceilings & Lighting of Washington, D.C is an international portfolio of architectural textiles, ceiling & lighting systems.
We specialize in creating modern, LED-backlit and acoustically tuned ceiling and wall installations for commercial and residential clients throughout Washington, D.C. It is our mission to devise solutions that delight our clients with both their form and function.
If you live and work around Washington, D.C., you know it’s a great place to be. But, like any other center of the action, it’s also quite crowded — and many available spaces are older and don’t necessarily have a great aesthetic, lighting, or acoustics. It’s just a fact of life that most existing spaces—whether residential or commercial—will not be suited to your specific needs.
We know modifying an existing space to suit your intended use(s) is a daunting proposition. That’s precisely where we come in.
We’ll hear what you’re hoping for and develop one bespoke solution that addresses all your issues — aesthetics, acoustics, and lighting, or some combination of the three.
It doesn’t matter if you just want a reprieve from the clamor of the streets and the traffic, or if you simply want to upgrade to a more modern system of LED lights. Maybe your space needs a complete reimagination.
That probably seems like a Herculean task, but the one-two punch provided by our collection of uber-functional architectural textiles, in tandem with our industry-leading design team, will allow us to devise the most perfect solution for your space, one that suits all your needs.
Intersection of Art & Architecture
Maybe you’re taking over a commercial lease and need to reimagine the space for your purposes.
Maybe you’d simply like to update your interior design to make it congruent with your brand identity — modern, gleaming, and eco-friendly.
Maybe you just want to make your studio apartment into a perfect work-from-home space with sound acoustics, mood-enhancing lighting, and an aesthetic that inspires the mind.
The truth is that the specific goal does not truly matter. This is not because we use cookie-cutter solutions; in fact, it’s the exact opposite: it’s because if you can imagine it for your ceiling, or your wall, we can absolutely make it happen.
We’re part architects and part artists; this combination of skills means we are uniquely able to help people finally have the space they never thought possible.
We will not rest until we’ve conceptualized a design that completely maximizes the form and function of your space. We will not rest until that design has an aesthetic that makes you happy and is synonymous with your brand. We will not rest until the total package makes your space as conducive as possible to high levels of productivity, mental clarity, and reaching that goal state of deep work.
We’re unique in our simultaneous mastery of lighting, acoustics, and aesthetics, in our ability to seamlessly blend all three into one bespoke solution, one perfect for you, one which is all at once practical, beautiful, and functional.
Integrated LED Lighting
If your lighting isn’t up to scratch, your space will look and feel inferior to its potential. We believe successful design begins with the lighting — in addition to merely looking cool, optimized lighting will enhance the mood and mind of employees and customers alike.
We cannot recommend integrated and recessed LED lighting highly enough. Integrated LED’s are, simply put, the most modern lighting option on the market in 2020.
Plus, some recent innovation has led to a considerable decrease in the raw cost of LEDs. Already the most energy efficient, cost-effective, and most easily customizable option, even that which you may have considered impossible given budgetary constraints is now more within reach that you could have imagined.
We’ve been at it for over a decade now, and we delight each and every time we get the chance to enhance yet another space with inspired, integrated and recessed LED lighting.
Acoustic Design, Sound Pollution Mitigation
Even with perfect lighting, a space with subpar acoustics will not be pleasant to spend considerable time in, whether working, living, or both. If you truly want that absolutely perfect space, acoustic balance is just as important as having excellent lighting.
You can’t “see” the acoustics of a room, but you will absolutely notice them. It will be impossible not to with the noise pollution inherent to any big city. Think about the constant drone of traffic as you try to sleep, or about the reverberation from that low-flying plane just taking off or preparing to land.
You simply can’t have sound pollution mucking up your workspace, living space, or any other type of space — at least not if you’re hoping that the space will be everything it can be. Studies have shown that the majority of productivity occurs with a “flow state” of deep work. We also know that suboptimal acoustics are perhaps the most surefire way to prevent people from finding their flow.
That’s where our acoustic textiles enter the fray. Their benefits may not be seen, but they’ll absolutely be noticed, and even more, appreciated. We offer a complete range of acoustic products, which include acoustic textiles, sound-absorbing backers, and soundproofing and anti-vibration materials.
Just for a moment, let us put function aside. Consider the first element people will notice: the aesthetic of your space. Are you pleased with it currently? How would you envision it, in the perfect world?
Remember that the look and feel of whatever solution we tailor to meet your functional needs—lighting and acoustics—can also be fully customized. Our materials are a miracle: one architectural fabric, three essential applications.
Maybe it’s your company’s color scheme and some glossy branding, maybe you want an edgy, matte, abstract design, or maybe something inspired by the Fibonacci sequence. We’ll make it happen for you.
Artistic Innovation, Direction, Collaboration
Each project requires a high degree of communication between us and the client. We need to know exactly what you’re hoping for, as well as any context essential to your space, before we can even hope to tailor the most perfect solution for you.
Once we have the requisite context, our artists will mock up a first draft of your bespoke solution. This will be a jumping off point for collaborative revision, and we’ll work together to come to a final plan.
At this point, it becomes primarily about quality control. It is our business to ensure that each and every installation is of museum-quality, no matter how large or small, in terms of the materials used and the overall quality of the install.
